The clothing of the Orinoquía region is simple, light and fresh due to the climatic conditions of this region of Colombia, characterized by high temperatures and high humidity.
The typical clothing for men includes the white or black liquiliqui, with the "pelo e guama" or straw hat, and the typical woven or leather quotes.
For the shows, the women wear colorful and flowered cloth dresses with short sleeves and a tray neck, and they also wear prices.
A distinction must be made between the common wardrobe of the llanero and the formal, artistic or show wardrobe. The characteristics of the costumes of this region will be explained below:
Menswear
Suits
As a traditional costume, the llanero wears the liquiliqui, a suit with a jacket and pants in white, black, cream or khaki.
However, for shows and dances he also wears white or black trousers rolled up at the mid-leg, accompanied by a white or red shirt without a collar.
Sweatshirts or topocheras are very typical of this region and are generally worn with tuco pants, that is, rolled up at the calf or knee.
The men also wear brightly colored shirts close to the body, type salami.
Hats
For elegant shows and parties, both the alón hat and the "pelo e guama" are used.
The latter, being heavier, guarantees that it will not fall during the horse's trot or stomp. It is usually black or araguato in color.
But the type of hat goes according to the age or the occasion. In the region, the cloth, felt, Texan, leather or straw hat is used.
The straw hat is commonly used in dairy farms and is used more in very folkloric and popular dances.
Footwear
The typical footwear of the region are the quotes. There is a variety of types that are used according to the occasion.
There are the leather quotes with diamonds and a buckle, which are the most elegant. There are also woven sole or rubber.
Female wardrobe
The woman wears a very colorful two-piece suit. It consists of a wide patterned skirt, which sometimes falls to the ankle or can be worn to the knees, depending on the person and the occasion.
It has plenty of background fabric, and shiny ribbon or lace in the seam to highlight the suit.
The blouse has a wide neckline at the back, is closed and with short sleeves. The three-quarter blouse with a high neck is also used, which is adorned with high lace.
The traditional llanero costume for women is very loose, but nowadays it is worn more closely to the body, as part of the coquetry to highlight the figure of the lady.
In general, llaneras prefer to wear their hair down, adorned with a cayenne flower in their ear and ribbons of intense colors.
Like men, women also wear leather or woven soles. Sabaneras ladies tend to paint little; Instead, the vegueras and pueblanas wear much more makeup.
