Among the main tourist attractions of Tamaulipas are the El Cielo Biosphere Reserve, the Reynosa Ecological Reserve, Bagdad Beach and Miramar Beach, the Museum of Mexican Agrarianism or the Reynosa Historical Museum.
Tamaulipas is located in the northern part of Mexico, in Central America. Its position makes it a coastal place that gives it the advantage of having beaches for tourist enjoyment.
Likewise, it has tropical forests that favor activities such as hiking, excursions or camping. Likewise, in the state the exercise of ecotourism and outdoor recreation is sought.
Tamaulipas has an exuberant nature of great diversity in flora and fauna, beaches with calm waters, historical sites that recreate part of the extensive Mexican culture and beautiful towns close to large cities.
Nature
It is an example of the characteristic biodiversity of the American regions near the equator.
The climate is variable, according to the area, which favors the growth of different plant species and varied animals.
It has large wooded areas such as those located in the El Cielo Biosphere Reserve, declared a World Heritage Site in 1985, and the Reynosa Ecological Reserve. which has a zoo and an aquatic recreation center.
Both reserves constitute a great national heritage due to their richness in native flora and fauna. They are ideal tourist sites to value nature and resize the man-environment relationship through sports and ecological activities.
Tourist locations
In the state of Tamaulipas there are several important regions for tourism, including Tampico, Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa, Matamoros and Victoria, the state capital.
In Tampico there is the beach area, among them are Playa Bagdad and Playa Miramar, where you can walk along its entire shore along a boardwalk of more than 1,300 meters.
Of equal tourist value is the Laguna de Carpintero, located in the center of the town. A diversity of aquatic species inhabit it and it is possible to take a boat ride and observe the crocodiles that live there.
In Tamaulipas there is a place that attracts tourists called Guerrero Viejo, better known as the town or ghost town.
The original town was completely flooded when the Falcón dam was built near Laredo and only the dome of a church was visible.
Main museums
The Museo de Agrarismo Mexicano stands out, located in Matamoros, in which the evolution of the agricultural sector in the region is collected.
The Reynosa Historical Museum draws attention for its architectural structure, a house built of superimposed stones that is considered in itself worthy of exhibition.
Of great importance for the study of the Mexican historical heritage is the Regional Museum of History, which summarizes the evolution of the state from indigenous times to the present.
The Tamaulipas Museum of Natural History aims to illustrate the evolution of the planet since its inception, passing through different eras and showing part of the state's biodiversity.
