1- Carnival

5- Independence of Guayaquil
Guayaquil became independent from the Spanish Crown on October 9, 1820. In honor of that date, various events are held during October.
Usually on October 9 there is a student parade, with dance groups and some floats.
It is customary for students to carry the Guayaquil flag. They also hold concerts, fairs and some traditional games.
