The economic activities of Quintana Roo are represented 80% by the tourism sector. From an economic point of view, Quintana Roo ranks fifth nationally.
Quintana Roo has a total area of 50,483 km 2 and a coastline of 900 km. It is made up of the territory attached to the continental shelf and the Mujeres and Cozumel islands.

1- Tourism
This tourism industry is mainly concentrated in Cancun, one of the world's favorite tourist destinations.
It is also the case of the Coastal Mayan Riviera, from Puerto Morelos to Tulum and Cozumel, encompassing Playa del Carmen. This territory is famous for its colorful reefs ideal for diving.

2- Timber production

Despite having suffered severe droughts, this economic sector has recovered considerably.
Government financial support has been one of the main agents involved in the rescue of agriculture in Quintana Roo.
Bovine cattle, pigs and poultry represent the items that lead the cattle production in the state.
In 2016, this economic sector had the best performance in terms of primary activities in the region.
