The appellate function is a function of language that is characterized by the issuer expecting a direct and immediate reaction from the receiver. That is, the speaker uses a verb that requires the immediate response of the listener.
This includes the sentences that are direct orders, questions and suggestions.
They are also characterized by using vocatives and words to invoke or draw the attention of the receiver.
There are three types of sentences whose function is appealing. In the first place, the imperative form stands out, which is one that gives a direct order to the receiver.
The interrogative form is the one that makes a request in the form of a direct question to the receiver. And finally, the suggestion makes the request indirectly.
