It is important to take care of ecosystems because they are fundamental for life. Maintaining a natural balance in these is essential for nature to take its course.
An ecosystem comprises all the elements that coexist in a natural space and their relationship with the environment. There are of all types and extensions; all are important and interconnected.
The intervention of human beings has caused the disappearance of many ecosystems, with consequent negative effects, such as the extinction of species.
The 5 reasons to take care of ecosystems
one-
One of the most pressing problems that humans may face in the coming years is climate change.
Industrial activity is one of the reasons why this change is taking place, given that it has emitted enormous amounts of polluting gases.
If concrete actions are not taken to prevent climate change, sea levels can rise, leading to the disappearance of small islands and coastal areas.
In addition, the increase in temperature will advance desertification, making life difficult in many areas.
2- Favor economic activities
Although on many occasions the damage to ecosystems has been generated by trying to achieve greater economic benefits, there is no doubt that in the long term their destruction can damage the world economy.
For example, there are countries with a fishing tradition that are seeing how the fishing grounds where they used to fish are being depleted, either due to excessive exploitation or contamination.
Likewise, the deforestation generated to promote the cultivation of certain products ends up damaging the quality of the land, which eventually loses production.
The advance of desertification due to climate change also affects crops and livestock.
3- Avoid c
Everything mentioned above has repercussions on the human being. Experts say that the next wars may be caused by a commodity that is becoming scarce in some areas: water.
The disappearance of aquifers, whether due to global warming, excessive exploitation or pollution, is causing water to become scarce in some countries.
This will cause large migrations, with the consequent social conflicts that can occur. It also affects growing areas, which can cause great famines.
4-
The worsening of people's health is a real thing if certain behaviors that damage the environment and its ecosystems are not corrected.
Environmental pollution in large cities has led to an increase in the incidence of respiratory diseases. Allergies have also increased in recent years and are expected to continue.
Heavy metal pollution of arable soils can also negatively affect health.
5- Generate a
The conservation of animal and plant species should be an obligation not only economic, but also moral.
Leaving the planet as well as possible for the next generations should be seen as a commitment.
