Marcus Aurelius was a Roman emperor who was born in 121 AD into a wealthy Roman family. His uncle was Emperor Antoninus Pius. He adopted Lucius Verus and Marco Aurelio as adopted children. They were co-emperors from 161 to 169, when Lucius died and Marcus Aurelius remained the sole Emperor until his death in 180.
