The flora and fauna of Veracruz varies according to the various reliefs and areas that this region has. It has plains, forests, jungles and mountain ranges. The climates that predominate in the state are the warm subhumid and the warm humid.

3- Mangrove
It is a tree up to 20 m tall and a trunk up to 40 cm in diameter. Its bark is reddish gray to brown.
Characteristics of this tree are the numerous roots that it contains and that serve as the basis for the trunk and branches.
4- Chaca
It is a small to medium tree, up to 25 meters tall. The crown is irregular and scattered.
It has several medicinal and therapeutic uses: it serves to lower fever, and helps against stomach pain and toothache.
5- Pepper
This tree can measure up to 25 meters in height and up to 40 cm in diameter. The trunk is straight, the bark is smooth and its leaves are dark green.
The flowers are grouped in groups of 3 or more. The fruits of the tree are rounded and measure between 4 and 10 mm in diameter.
The texture of the fruits is rough and they give off an intense smell. Their color is green and when they mature they are black. They contain 1 to 2 seeds in each fruit.

1- Flying squirrel
It is found in the state forests. It is a species of squirrel that has folds between the limbs and the torso.
Thanks to these folds you can make great jumps between trees. During these jumps it seems that it flies, for this it receives its name.
2- Anteater
Although its habitat includes the state of Veracruz, it is an animal that is in danger of extinction.
A few anteaters have appeared sporadically throughout the state over the years. It feeds only on insects such as ants and termites.
3- Armadillo
In Veracruz it is also known as toche. The armadillo is a mammal characterized by having a dorsal carapace, with a fairly long tail and short limbs.
This animal can be a carrier of certain microorganisms that cause diseases such as leprosy in man.
4- Rattlesnake
These snakes are poisonous and can be found in grasslands. They are easily recognizable by the characteristic rattlesnake on the tip of the tail.
5- Green iguana
The green iguana is a cold-blooded animal and relies on external sources to regulate its body temperature.
This is why they are often found on rocks in full sun or under a shady tree. Its natural habitat in the state is the mangroves.
