- Speed
The elements of movement allow a clear and precise definition of what movement is and how it works, not only in general but in the world of physics in particular.
To begin it is necessary to know the concept of movement, in order to understand the function of its elements.
Movement in physics is the change of position of an object or body, taking into consideration a specific reference point and time. If the object has not changed its position, it is said to be at rest.
Main elements of the movement
Acceleration
Acceleration is considered a vector quantity. Thanks to it, the variation in speed per unit of time can be calculated. The unit that represents it in the International System is m / s2 (meter per second squared).
Acceleration can be divided into several movements, but the two most used are uniform circular movement and accelerated rectilinear movement:
- Uniform Circular Motion: is where the object to be studied travels a circular path following a constant speed.
- Accelerated Rectilinear Motion: is when the object travels a straight path and its acceleration remains constant. A clear example of this movement is free fall, where the constant acceleration corresponds to that of gravity.
Starting and ending position
They are the points where the path traveled by a body or object begins and ends.
Speed
It is a magnitude with which the duration of the movement is measured.
Trajectory
It can be defined as the set of points in a straight line or curve that a body or object travels when performing a movement.
Scroll vector
The displacement vector is the one that defines the position of the object from point A to point B.
The displacement vector takes into consideration only the initial position and the final position of the object, the trajectory of the object is not important when calculating said vector.
