The words in Zapotec language are closely related to indigenous Mesoamerican languages; they constitute a main branch of the Ottoman language family.
The Zapotec language is spoken by the Zapotec people in the central southwest highlands of Mexico. It is estimated that there are about 425,000 speakers of this language, with the majority of the people who speak it living in the state of Oaxaca.
