The chemical applied is the discipline that is based on pure chemical processes to solve practical problems. In recent times, this discipline has gained special relevance in the areas of chemical technology, engineering and pharmacy.
Other fields of study include organic synthesis, surfactants, pesticide formulation, catalysts, interfaces, and sonochemistry. For its part, pure chemistry is the science that deals with the organic and inorganic matter of the universe and the changes that this matter undergoes.
It is often referred to as the central science, because most of the phenomena that occur around it involve a change of a chemical nature.
Branches of applied chemistry
In general, the branches of applied chemistry correspond to those of general chemistry. The important thing is its practical applications.
Below is a brief description of some of these branches.
Agrochemistry or agricultural chemistry
This branch of chemistry is related to the chemical reactions that occur within living organisms.
By using these knowledge and techniques, biochemists can understand and solve biological problems.
Chemical engineering
It is the branch of chemistry that involves the study of chemical reactions in a solution at the interface between an ionic conductor and an electrical conductor.
It has a number of different uses, particularly in the industrial area.
Enviromental chemistry
Geochemistry is the study of the chemical composition and chemical processes associated with Earth and other planets.
This discipline integrates principles of chemistry, physics and biology to study the processes and dynamics of the Earth.
Its practical applications include studying and evaluating geological hazards, natural resources and environmental problems.
