Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley (1945-1981) was a Jamaican reggae singer, songwriter, and guitarist who gained international acclaim and fame. It began in 1963 with the group The Wailers, which broke up in 1972.
Marley sold more than 20 million records throughout his career, making him the first international superstar to come from the third world. He died in Miami, Florida, on May 11, 1981 at the age of 36.
