The rules of the school for children are those that allow the establishment of a general discipline code that emphasizes the protection of the individuality of each child and their right to know what their duties are within the educational institution they attend.
Thus, the rules of a school should not be simply a list of prohibitions or a guide to possible punishments, but a formal resource that allows students to develop in an environment free from distractions and threats.
Schools provide rules for children so that their behavior is standardized. Usually, schools use the support of parents to ensure that these regulations are complied with.
Most schools in the world have quite similar regulations, designed to protect the integrity of both individuals and the institution. However, this regulation may change from one institution to another depending on the educational model that each one chooses.
Important rules of a school
General behavior
1 - No student may leave the school premises during the course of the school day without first presenting a written permission granted by the parents or guardians. Under no circumstances will children be allowed to enter places whose access is restricted and in case they need to go home regularly during lunch, their parents should fill out a form.
2 - The school uniform must be worn by the child all the time he / she remains in the institution. The type of uniform may vary from one institution to another, however, it usually consists of pants or a skirt, a white shirt or one that evokes the colors of the institution, a sweater, white socks, dark sneakers and sportswear. The latter are only required to carry out sports activities.
Regarding the use of the uniform, all the garments that compose it must be marked with the name of its owner. The school is not responsible for the loss or damage of any garment.
3 - All children who are absent from school must bring an explanatory note with them when they return. Said note must clarify the reason for the absence and must be signed by the father, mother or guardian of the infant.
4 - Courtesy and good manners are expected of children at all times, both when treating their teachers and their classmates. Irregular and haughty conduct is not tolerated by the institutions. Some examples of misconduct include:
- Continuous interruption of classes, such as speaking out of time, talking with other classmates, having restless behavior, among others.
- Running or jumping on stairs and hallways, or sliding down handrails.
- Going outside of the classroom on a cold or rainy day.
- Damaging school property by writing on tables, walls, etc.
- Fighting with other classmates or subjecting them to bullying within the school premises. The use of inappropriate words and expressions, giving nicknames to other colleagues, spitting, kicking, pulling or carrying out any type of activity in an aggressive way.
- Entering restricted areas inside or outside the school.
- Damaging or interfering with another child's property
5 - Children should walk to and from the classroom in a quiet and organized manner.
6 - The use of jewelry is prohibited for security reasons. In case of wearing earrings, they must be small.
7 - Children must arrive at school within the hours stipulated by the institution and remain within it only within those hours. In case you need to stay longer, a formal application must be filled out and signed by the parents or guardians.
Classroom
1 - Children must perform the duties assigned by their teacher. If not, they must provide an explanatory note signed by the parents or guardian indicating why they were not carried out.
2 - All children must carry basic personal hygiene implements, such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, and a hand towel.
3 - Children must be dropped off by their parents at the school gate. No parent should enter the classroom with the child. This in order to contribute to the independence of the child. This rule also applies at the end of the school day, at which time parents must pick up the child at the door.
4 - Children are prohibited from consuming gum inside the classrooms. Sometimes this rule covers the entire school.
Schoolyard
1 - Lunch must be consumed where indicated by the school authorities. In some cases it is allowed to be on the schoolyard.
2 - It is forbidden to drive a bicycle inside the schoolyard.
3 - Inside the schoolyard, children must respond to the sound of the bell so that when it rings during recess, children stop playing and attend the classroom. In the event that the balls and items with which the children are playing during recess are property of the institution, the children must return them once the bell rings.
4 - Children must obey the instructions of their teachers at all times and in all places, this includes the schoolyard and recess.
5 - In order to preserve the physical integrity of the youngest children, they are prohibited from practicing any sport inside the schoolyard.
6 - Inside the schoolyard, as in other areas of the school, children must display an exemplary behavior of mutual cooperation. This behavior will always be supervised by a professor or manager of the administrative staff of the institution.
Any type of behavior that could threaten the physical and emotional health of individuals is prohibited. Therefore, it is not allowed to practice sports where physical contact is violent.
